About this Micro Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)

Sand control refers to managing/minimising sand and fine production during petroleum production. Sand and fine produced with oil and gas can cause erosion and wear of production facilities/equipment, resulting in production downtime, expensive repairs, and potentially loss of containment (a serious safety risk). The solid material produced from a well can consist of both formation fines and load bearing solids. The production of fines cannot normally be prevented and is actually beneficial. The critical factor to assessing the risk of sand production from a particular well is whether or not the production of load bearing particles can be maintained below an acceptable level at the anticipated flow rates and producing conditions which will make the well production acceptable.
