About this Micro Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)
As water depths increase, Deepwater Drilling rigs are now almost universally Dynamically Positioned rather than moored. In water depths exceeding 1,500m / 4,500ft, DP is the only practical way of station keeping without the use of thruster-assisted mooring or pre-layed moorings, synthetic rope / wire mooring systems, etc.. However, Dynamic positioning introduces significant additional complexity (and cost) to Drilling operations.
This Micro VILT examines equipment and procedures required to dynamically position a rig while drilling a Deepwater Well. It considers the risks associated with DP Operations and how they can be managed.
