About this Micro Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT)
This 3-part Micro VILT is designed to help participants acquire the fundamental knowledge on Marine Drilling processes on offshore jack-up and floater drilling rigs. The course outlines the various types of offshore drilling rig (Jack-ups, Drilling Semi Submersibles and Drillships – together with Drilling Barges and Tender Assisted Rigs). It details their drilling facilities and systems employed in drilling wells (the derrick, the drill string, the use of drilling muds and cementing). Special attention is given to the Marine Drilling components of the Blow Out Preventer, The Marine Drilling Riser the Riser Tensioner and Heave Compensation Systems. The Micro VILT details how Offshore wells are drilled from Platforms / Other Production hosts or as subsea wells and related examples are provided. It concludes with a short look at advanced drilling approaches such as Horizontal Drilling, Batch Drilling, Dual Gradient Drilling and others. Participants will be provided with a set of videos and multimedia material for post course viewing to enhance learning experience and understanding.
