About this Classroom Training

Floating photovoltaic (FPV) systems are an innovative and rapidly growing application of solar energy. By floating solar panels on bodies of water rather than mounting them on land, FPV systems open new possibilities for clean power generation while overcoming land constraints. With many countries aggressively adopting renewable energy targets, floating solar promises to play a major role in helping achieve sustainability goals.

This two-day course offers a comprehensive understanding of floating PV technology and equips participants with the knowledge to assess the feasibility, design, implementation and operation FPV systems. The curriculum covers all major aspects from component selection, ecological impacts, anchoring solutions, operations and maintenance to financial modelling. Engaging activities and design exercises allow participants to apply the concepts to planned projects in their home countries.

The course provides theoretical grounding and practical guidelines tailored to professionals evaluating or preparing FPV projects. Participants will gain invaluable insights and tools to determine if floating PV can be a viable, efficient and ecologically sound energy alternative for their organizations. Participants will leave equipped to evaluate sites, select appropriate infrastructure, navigate permitting, and operate cost-effective floating solar systems by leveraging industry best practices.

This course will be delivered face-to-face over 2 days, comprising of 8 hours per day, 1 hour lunch and 2 breaks of 15 minutes per day. Course Duration: 16 hours in total, 16 CPD points. Maximum number of participants: 20
